Frequently asked questions

You may be wondering…

What is a sworn translation?

It is a translation made by a sworn translator, who certifies that it is faithful to the original document. It has official value and is required by most Belgian administrations, municipalities, courts and universities.

Is a sworn translation the same as a certified translation?

In Belgium, the official term is sworn translation (traduction jurée). It is what people often call a certified or official translation in other countries. If a Belgian authority asks you for a certified translation into French, this is what you need.

Which languages do you work with?

I translate from English into French and from Spanish into French. We can communicate in English throughout the whole process.

Do you translate into Dutch?

No. My sworn translations are into French, for authorities in Wallonia and Brussels. If your document is for a Flemish authority, you will need a sworn translator for Dutch.

Do I also need a legalisation or an apostille?

Some authorities also require the legalisation of the sworn translator's signature. Tell me what the document is for, and I will let you know whether this step is needed and how to go about it.

How much does a sworn translation cost?

The price depends on the number of pages and the type of document. Send me your document through the quote form and you will receive a precise price, free of charge and with no obligation.
